Notes about event :
· Should learn English more and more special in listen and speak L so I was understand difficulty session
· Open Source is The future of technology and software
· Open Source Can make his business and his future and International Company like Microsoft can't ignore more
· Microsoft want to use Open Source Community for its benefits by launch CodePlex
· Microsoft and Open Source Now not enemies or competitors but now they cooperate more than before
· Php have a wide community and market in web development so Microsoft want to develop php web apps in windows server in iis
· Can Microsoft gain php community attention and move it to win servers ? or make it support windows ? by what ? events ? workshops ?
- I don't think it will happen like Microsoft want .. but it very good step and will change culture of a lot of people who have closed minded and just support close source and not share knowledge with world .. I thinks that help open source community and help to spread open source culture
· What is best performance , stability and cost of php web apps in iis or apache ?
· Cost of host php on win server of course more than unix , linux server
· Next next finish = you can install iis and a lot of open source php CMS (like drupal and joomla ) and tools .. in some steps !!
· Visual studio not support edit php code officially yet .. but there are PHP IDE for Visual Studio http://www.jcxsoftware.com/
· Garrett not recommend to move php developers to work on iis Instead of apache but he just say Microsoft start to support php on iis and want to keep in touch with php community .
· Mohamed Nar Tell us by java user group and php group using facebook .. and can collect more than 30 people by easy way .. Social Media in E-marketing .. Can use that from more than 2 years old in our open source events
· Mohamed Nar told me he will contact Development companies officially and invite them to Microsoft Open source events of course companies will accept and send development team
· Garrett use Firefox !! so what ? you more use Zeftplorer (mean explorer 6,7,8,9,101…etc) :D
· Php on windows contest next month .. Microsoft want to make action in php community in Egypt and take their attention .
· In session windows on Garrett 's laptop is very stable and fast and its performance was perfect .. sure not .. it's very bored to wait it restart and update for a long time
· When I was student in university and support open source with all my efforts .. I think people who work in Microsoft and other closed source company were arrogant officially people that wear black suits .. yes I met two people that day were arrogant and wear Casual but .. man like Mohamed Nar wasn't like that .. casual in his Clothes .. I proud to meat man like him .. it was simple and not arrogant .. he talk to us in break and listen carefully to our opinion ..he told is he want to contact with us as IT Community in Egypt help each other ..that's great .. he wait our feedback about event J
· when I go by myself to Microsoft building I was kill hate to Microsoft and closed source … and open my heart and my mind to all .. IT Market can accommodate Open Source and Closed Source Commercial and free products .. Microsoft not evil all time .. open source not comfortable and easy to all not all people was hackers and developers .. not all people want freedom in their software ..
